I successfully majored in architecture at the Università IUAV di Venezia.
I obtained at the Politecnico di Milano in 2006 the Ph.D. in Architectural Composition with the research thesis «Abstraction and Memory in Architecture: Elements of composition in the Italian Rationalism».
Postdoctoral in Urban Design from the university IUAV, Venice in 2014.
I have an extense history in teaching experience, especifically in proyect design and its respective theory.
Leading architectural workshops since 2007 in prestigious Architecture Schools in Chile and Italy. I have worked and teached at the Pontificial Catholic University of Chile, worked in Politecnico di Milano and University IUAV of Venice up until 2012.
I have contributed in many international seminars about Modern Architecture, Chilean architecture, landscaping, museology and italian architectural work.
I have done important lectures about Chilean Architecture at the Five Architectural Festival of Parma 2009 and in the Biennale of Venice 2012.
I was head leader in important architectural team offices. For instance, in the studio of Sebastian Irarrazabal and Alejandro Aravena in Santiago, the studio of Claudio Fazzini in Milan and Armando dal Fabbro office in Venice.
Alongside of what I just mentioned, I have professional independent experience with architectural design, how the shape of a workshop or building can relate to the context of a city and how it can coexist with other types of city architetures and different landscapes.
Currently, I finished my postdoctoral research at the IUAV University of Architecture in Venice. The theme was the urban design proposal of a new urban gate for Venice in the railway station and a new mobility system connection between the islands and the mainland of the city.
My portfolio is a selection of my independent work as an architect which covers the period 2003-2012. The first part is a series of houses I have built in the valley of Curacaví in Chile; the second part is a selection of urban projects and designs for architectural competitions.
Arquitecto Universidad IUAV de Venecia. Doctor en Composición Arquitectónica Politécnico de Milán. Postdoctorado en Diseño Urbano Universidad IUAV de Venecia 2014. Experiencia docente en prestigiosas universidades de Italia, Chile, Portugal y Alemania, en el área de la teoría del proyecto y en la del taller de proyectos de Arquitectura, desde 1998 hasta la fecha. Participación en seminarios de gran prestigio internacional efectuados en Roma, Milán y Venecia sobre la intervención del patrimonio, la construcción del territorio, paisajismo, vivienda, museografía y sobre la obra de los arquitectos modernos italianos. Obtención del grado de Doctor en Composición arquitectónica con la tesis de investigación: Abstracción y memoria en arquitectura. Elementos de la composición en el Racionalismo italiano del ’900. En el área del diseño urbano realiza una investigación sobre la forma urbana de Venecia, su origen y desarrollo en el tiempo, que culmina en la propuesta de una nueva puerta urbana para la ciudad. Arquitecto especializado en diseño arquitectónico y urbano. Jefe de taller en numerosas oficinas de arquitectura en Chile e Italia. Experiencia profesional como arquitecto independiente con la realización de obras que destacan por la búsqueda expresiva de la idea arquitectónica, fundamentada en la observación de los actos, vinculada a la materialidad, y por la relación entre forma y contexto. Profesor asociado y miembro del Claustro del Magister de Arquitectura en Zonas Áridas, MAZA, de la Universidad Católica del Norte. Evaluador de Conicyt del programa Becas Chile, que otorga becas de Magister y Doctorado. Profesor Visitante de la Universidad IUAV de Venecia y de la Universidad de Cagliari Italia.
